The artifacts that I chose for this standard relate to it because they both show understanding of child development and ways in which to support different ways for children to learn. The artifact that I chose for 2.A represents this standard because it was an observation that I had to complete. I observed a Pre-K classroom for tow hours and then had to answer the questions to complete the observation. This artifact relates to this specific category that I chose it for because it shows my understanding of how learning occurs in children and how a teacher can use strategies that help students learn. This assignment helped me understand working with children. The second artifact that I chose for 2.B was a lesson plan that I was assigned for a class. This lesson plan was part of a bigger assignment that I chose "Exploring the Oceans" as a theme. This assignment relates to this specific category because it shows that I understand that there are different ways that influence students learning and I am able to address these factors when I am creating a lesson for children. For instance, I give the children a chance to work alone or with a partner because I realize that some children would rather work alone or work with someone else on a project like this. Both of these artifacts are good examples of this standard because they show my knowledge and understanding of how children learn and develop. They also show that I can offer instruction that supports children's different ways of learning.
Project:
I think that these artifacts show that I want to be the kind of learner who is willing to do all that I can to understand children and the ways they learn and implement them in my teaching, planning and instruction. I also think they show me as a learner who understands the development of children and has addressed this knowledge in these assignments. These artifacts show that I am becoming a teacher that can incorporate different teaching ideas into my planning and that I will support the development of children. These artifacts also have helped me understand how to work with children and have helped me become a teacher that promotes learning and fun in lessons.
